The school is a member of National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I and the American Athletic Conference. The major sports at the university are football (played at Rentschler Field) and men's and women's basketball (played on-campus at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion and off-campus at the XL Center), although many of the other sports have large followings and a tradition of success.
